Watch Your Step, Not Just Your Style

The French Quarter’s charm comes with a few bumps, literally! Those gorgeous cobblestone and brick streets have been around for centuries, and they love to test a heel or two. When you’re planning your outfit, think “chic and sturdy.” Comfortable shoes (or at least ones that won’t get stuck between the bricks) will make exploring the French Quarter a lot more fun, and keep your night from turning into an ankle adventure.

Meals & Dining

Which meals are included?
All meals and group dining is included, as well as two excursions. Some meals will be at leisure so you can explore the local dining scene. You will be provided with a gift card to cover non-group meals.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes! Please indicate any dietary needs during registration so we can prepare accordingly.

What is the dress code at restaurants in the French Quarter?

  • Men: Many upscale restaurants in the French Quarter require men to wear a jacket (especially in evening service).

    • For example, at Galatoire’s, gentlemen are required to wear jackets after 5 p.m. and all day on Sunday; in more casual spaces of the restaurant they may relax that rule, but trousers and collared shirts are generally required.

  • Women: For women, dress code rules are less often spelled out, but the norms tend to mirror the “dressy casual to formal” standard.

    • For example: At Galatoire’s, tank tops, flip flops, and athletic wear are prohibited for both gentlemen and ladies.

    • Many restaurants discourage overly casual attire for women just as they do for men (e.g. no beachwear, athletic wear, or flip flops).

    • In practice, women often wear dresses, skirts, dress pants, blouses, or other smart casual / cocktail attire when dining in premium French Quarter restaurants.

Given that dress code enforcement can vary by restaurant (and sometimes by room or time of day), we always suggest calling ahead. That way, you won’t be turned away or feel underdressed at the door.

Miscellaneous

What should I pack?
October in New Orleans is warm but comfortable, with highs in the 70s–80s. Pack light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and cocktail attire for the Awards Dinner.

Shade or Shine? Be Ready for Both!

With sunny skies and temps in the mid-80s, New Orleans will be showing off her best glow, so don’t forget yours! Pack that sunscreen and keep it handy for daytime strolls through the Quarter. An umbrella isn’t a bad idea either, it doubles as shade from the sun and quick cover if one of those surprise Southern showers rolls through. Stay cool, stay protected, and enjoy the sunshine!

Will I have free time?
Yes! The program includes scheduled events but also time for you to explore the French Quarter and enjoy New Orleans at your own pace.

What if I need to cancel?
Please notify us immediately if you are unable to attend—contact Thea for assistance.

What if I get hurt, need a doctor, or forgot my sunscreen?

Please reach out to Thea  303-88-4735 with any injuries, ailments, or for any forgotten items.  I will have a first aid kit, can quickly arrange medical attention, or provide help obtaining commonly forgotten items.  If you are injured, it is important to let me know, as this is a Spectra-sponsored event and I need to complete an accident report.
